Biography

Alan G. Cosner has been involved in the legal profession for more than 50 years. Over the course of his career, he brought together a rare combination of legal, tax, accounting, and business experience, giving clients the benefit of practical counsel grounded in both legal analysis and financial understanding.

Alan graduated from Bucknell University with an accounting degree in 1966. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University in 1970 and his Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 1974.

Before and during the early part of his legal career, Alan gained valuable experience as an accountant and as an agent with the Internal Revenue Service. This background gave him a strong foundation in tax, financial, and business-related legal issues, which became an important part of the perspective he brought to his clients and to the firm.

Throughout his career, Alan was admitted to practice in New Jersey state and federal courts, as well as the Tax Court. He was also a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Middlesex County Bar Association.

In addition to his legal practice, Alan taught Business Law and Tax Law at Rutgers University and Middlesex County College. His teaching experience reflected both his depth of knowledge and his ability to explain complex legal and financial issues in a practical, understandable way.

Today, Alan’s legacy continues through the values he helped establish at Cosner Law Group: careful analysis, practical advice, personal service, and a commitment to helping clients make informed decisions during important legal and financial moments.
