About Staci A. Cosner
Staci graduated from Cornell University with distinction in 1992, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School in 1995.
Earlier in her legal career, Staci was an associate with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in New York City. This experience provided her with a strong foundation in sophisticated legal analysis and complex client matters. She later brought that experience to her work with individuals and families in New Jersey.
Staci is admitted to practice law in both New Jersey and New York. She is a member of the Elder Law Committee of the Middlesex County Bar Association and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She also formerly served as a member of the Supreme Court of New Jersey District Ethics Committee for Middlesex County District VIII.
In addition to her client work, Staci frequently lectures on elder law topics and has appeared on local New Jersey television to discuss elder law issues.
Helping Families Plan with Clarity and Confidence
Many clients come to Staci during significant life transitions. Some are planning ahead to protect their assets and wishes. Others are helping an aging parent, preparing for long-term care, applying for Medicaid, administering an estate, or addressing family-related legal concerns.
Staci’s approach is grounded in careful listening, clear communication, and practical legal guidance. She takes the time to understand each client’s circumstances and explain the available options in a way that is understandable and useful. Her goal is to help clients move forward with greater confidence and a plan that reflects their needs, priorities, and family circumstances.
Practice Focus
Staci assists seniors and their families with legal issues related to aging, long-term care, healthcare decision-making, asset protection, and planning for future needs. Her elder law practice includes guidance on powers of attorney, advance healthcare directives, guardianships, and long-term care planning.
Staci helps clients prepare estate planning documents designed to protect their wishes and provide clarity for loved ones. This may include wills, trusts, powers of attorney, living wills, and other planning tools tailored to the client’s personal and financial circumstances.
For families concerned about the cost of long-term care, Staci provides guidance on Medicaid planning and related legal considerations. She helps clients understand the planning process, available options, and steps involved in preparing for a Medicaid application.
When a loved one passes away, Staci helps families navigate probate and estate administration. She provides guidance on the legal responsibilities involved, including estate filings, administration requirements, and the orderly handling of estate matters.
Staci assists families with guardianship matters when a loved one may no longer be able to make important personal, medical, or financial decisions independently. She helps clients understand the guardianship process and the responsibilities involved.
Staci also handles family law matters, including divorce and related family issues. Her approach emphasizes practical guidance, careful preparation, and attention to the personal impact these matters can have on families.
